The basic and primary governing document of NJAALAS are its Bylaws.
The Bylaws of our organization have been recently revised and reviewed by the Board of Trustees (BOT) and approved by a majority of the BOT. These changes were approved by a majority of NJAALAS voting members during the May 2023 election, allowing them to be incorporated into the Bylaws. Both a summary of the substantial amendments and the current, updated Bylaws are listed/linked below.

- Updated the number of Trustee members
- Removed requirement for nominees to be announced at the Spring General Membership Meeting
- Added that nominees must consent to being nominated
- Added both Honorary Member and Institution Bundle member type
- Amended the distribution of assets in the event of branch dissolution
- Minor grammatical/editorial changes for clarity throughout
